FIRE AT SEA
OUTBREAK ON ANCONA. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, January 1. Fire broke out in the linen store, on the Ancona in mid-Atlantic during .a gale of 60 miles an hour. The danger was great, as only a single bulkhead separated the linen store from the oil fuel store. It was doubtful if the boats could-be launched in the heavy seas. It took 100 members of the crew eight hours to control the outbreak.— A. and N.Z. Cable. [The Ancona is a steel screw steamer of 5465 tops gross register.
