The conflict commenced by the Communists tearing down the Fascist manifestoes. The Venetian Fascists then mobilised their forces, and marched to Piana, where the Communists occupied a fortified house. When the Fascists surrounded the premises with a girdle of fire the Communists were obliged to rush out. A desperate struggle ensued, in which the Communists were beaten, and eventually captured. Calm has now been restored. —A. and N.Z. Cable. INCREASING THE REVENUE TAX ON WORKERS’ WAGES. ROME, December 27.
