FIRST GRADE. GRANGE v. CARISBROOK. 'The second, round of senior matches was concluded on Saturday when Carisbrook continued the first innings of (heir match against Grange on an easy wicket. They made a poor showing against the .bowling of M'Beath and Galland, and were disposed of for 90 runs. A. W. Alloo and Duncan were the only Carisbrook batsmen to be at all successful" the former making 25 (including a six off M'Beath). and the latter 21. As they were 114 rims behind, Carisbrook followed on, and had made 155 runs for seven wickets when stumps were drawn. Grange therefore secured a .two-point, win. In the second innings Duncan started sera tel tily, but became particularly aggressive towards the latter part of his innings, when he hit M'Beath over the rails on no fewer than three occasions. His cutting also was fine, and it was not until he had compiled a good 61 that he was caught by Keast off M'Beath. Havraway had a charmed life, the field dropping him throe times before he was finally bowled by M‘Be»th for 24. As a whole, however, Grange's fielding was good, and particularly so in the first innings. M'Beath bowled very consistently, and bis average in both innings (five for 38, and four- for 46) was good. However, ho was kept on iat her 100 long, having bowled no fewer than 30 consecutive overs. C. Chadwick’s work behind the stumps was exceptionally good. In addition to losing very few in extras, he was successful in stumping Brinsley off Keast and catching H. U. Alloo off Conradi. Brinsley, who made a total of 23, hit. Galland over the rails for six a moment before his wicket was taken. Tlalf-way through the match rain commenced to fall, and troubled the bowlers considerably. ORA.VUE.
