Dr M'Kibbin, medical officer of health, who has been visiting Invercargill, will return to the city this morning. Mr A. C. Fahey, of Timani, and Mr V. I;. A Melbourne Press Association cable message announces the, death of Mr Percy Lewis, who was at one time an international cricketer. Messrs J. B. Morrett, editor New Zealand Poultry Journal, Jeffreys, Pearce, Johnstone, and Candy arrived from Christchurch yesterday to attend the annua) meeting of the South Island Poultry Association. A Christchurch Press Association message announces the death of the Very Rev. Dean Hyland, for 25 years in charge of the Roman Catholic palish of Rangiora, aged 55 years. He was a native of Tipperary, Ireland, and was stationed for some time on the Wefct Coast and at Ashburton. He assisted in (he opening of a bazaar on Tuesday, and was found dead in bed this morning. He had an attack of angina pectoris a week ago. A pleasing ceremony took place at. the Telegraph Office last night, when a large gathering of officers met to bid farewell to Mr K. W. G. Lye (deputy district engineer), who has been promoted to the Napier Telegraph Engineering District. In making a presentation of a handsome Mosgiel travelling nig, Mr Vcitch referred in appreciatory terms to the engineering works carried out by the departing officer, making special reference to the installation of the Dunedin underground duct system. Mr J. C. M’Crea (chief postmaster) and Mr V. Anderson (superintendent of the Telegraph Office) spoke of their long association, in various centres, with Mr Lye—an association extending over a period of 25 years. Mr Lye briefly replied, thanking the officers for their cordial co-operation during his period of service in Dunedin, and said that whilst appreciating the call to the north, he much regretted leaving behind so many friends in beautiful Dunedin.
