CLASS LEGISLATION.
TO THE EDITOR. Sib,—ln your issue of the 24th inst. appeared a letter signed “For Efficiency,” in which it is stated that one can be an ardent prohibitionist without being a total abstainer and may vote for the abolition of the liquor trade in the interest of his fcliow-men, being quite prepared to cut the drink for the sake of others. Such is not correct, as the wealthy business prohibitionist who is not a total abstainer will be able to lay in large stocks of liquor before the 30th of next Juno to last him for years to come,— that is, of course, provided prohibition is carried at the poll. But the working man and the poorer classes of the dominion will have to go wMiont liquid refreshments. This is what the wealthy business prohibitionists want, as they contend the workers will have more money to spend in their shops if they cannot got drink, while they, the prohibitionist business men, can drink as much as they like. So you see that it is all a question 9! £ s. d. with a largo number of prohibitionists,—l am, etc., Working Max. Wellington. November 27.
