UNREST IN PORTUGAL

MILITARY INSURRECTION FEARED. POSTAL AND TELEGRAPH STRIKE. PrftM Afljooifitioo—By Tdegraph—Copyright LISBON, October 2. (Received Oct. 3, at 8.10 p.m.) Numerous arrests have been made in connection with the revolutionary movement in October, 1921, including that of Captain Ramos (Minister of Marine under the revolutionary regime). The arrests have provoked a widespread protest, though the origin of the popular feeling will more probably be found in dissatisfaction of army officers and State officials with the State subsidies. There is talk of a military insurrection. The postal and telegraphic workers have struck. Emergency orders have been issued to the military, and naval commanders, and armed police are patrolling the city in armoured car's.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
