PRINCESS THEATRE
A varied and skilfully presented programme at the Princess Theatre last night kept a large audience highly entertained and amused. The programme was the same as ■ on the previous evening except that Count Filipini, an Italian operatic baritone of distinction, made his first appearance. The Count will lie pleasantly remembered by many as one of the prominent members cf the Gonzales Opera Company that visited this city some six years ago. His opening number was the familiar Toreador's song from “Carmen,” which ho gave with great power ami dramatic force. The two following numbers were ‘('arrninella” and “La Spaniola,” two recent Neapolitan songs that have not been hoard hero before. They are of a bright and humorous character, and their significance was clearly conveyed by the singer's expressive rendering. The Count has a rich and' powerful voice, admirably controlled, and the clarity of his enunciation is an added pleasure in listening to him. Other popular performances of varied character were submitted by George Ilirste and Eva Vent.a, who presented an extremely clever sketch, hv the Kclroys. jugglers and acrobats, Bella- Mora. Scottish singer. Linden and Berridgc, and a number of olhara.
