FEDERAL REVENUE. INCOME TAX ADJUSTMENTS. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright, MELBOURNE, October 2. The Commonwealth Treasurer (Mr Bruce) announced that the Government had decided to exempt bonus shares from the income tax. It had also decided to tax company profits at the source instead of when they are in the hands of shareholders. “LOAFERS’ PARADISE BILL.” BRISBANE, October 2. The Government gagged the Unemployed' Workers’ Bill through the Assembly, the Premier exercising his proxy vote for the Home Secretary. A number of the members of the Opposition left the Chamber as a protest against the gag and proxyvoting. The measure is popularly known as the “Loafers’ Paradise Bill.” EIGHT-HOUR DAY CELEBRATION. SYDNEY, October 2. (Received Oct. 2J.at 1125 p.m.) Eight-hour Day was celebrated in fine weather by the usual procession, which was witnessed by many thousands, but it was not equal to previous efforts. Only a small number of unionists participated.
