OAMARU v. TIMARU.
TO THE EDITOB. Sin,-—We are pleased to know that things in Timaru are in a sound and prosperous condition. I am happy to say we people of Oamaru are in like condition. The building trade is booming, and even then it is difficult to get a house to- lease. At present time there are six new shops going up in Thames street New shop fronts also are being put in By prosperous,.mer- ' chants, whilst the Beautifying Society and the Jones Memorial Arch Committee are ornamenting the town in a substantial manner. The Soldiers’ Memorial Committee . has close on £2OOO in hand for the erection of a memorial worthy of any city in tb? dominion. The suburbs are being extended, numerous substantial buildings being erected or recently finished at the present time. With confidence I can assert that there is as healthy a tone in business and_ financial matters as in any other place in tha dominion, Timaru included.—l am, etc., September 29. Oauarij Citizen.
