A deputation of Liberal electors from the various parts of the Teniuka electorate waited on Mr Thomas Herbert Langford at Winchester and asked him to allow himself to be nominated a-o a candidate for the Tomuka seat in the Liberal-Labour interest. Mr Langford consented to be nominated. Subsequently tho result of the deputation’s visit was conveyed to Mr Wilford, leader of tlie Liberal Party, who haa replied 'to the effect that the party’s executive has accepted Mr Langford as tlie Liberal-Labour candidate for Teniuka. Mr Langford served in the Great War, was severely wounded, and has not yet completely recovered from his wound. •SOUTHERN MAORI SEAT. At a meeting of Natives concerned in tlie Southern Maori electorate, held at Pieton this week, it was unanimously resolved to ask Mr Peter M'Donald to contest the electorate Mr M'Donald, who was present by invitation, acceded to the request, and said that ho was prepared to take the field in the interests of the Reform Party. WESTLAND SEAT, Some Labour people intimate that Mr James O’Brien will not contest the Westland seal- on this occasion (says the Westport correspondent of the Christchurch /Press), and that the selected candidate may be Mr Murk Fagan, of Reef ton. He is a Imion secretary, and is understood to have moderate tendencies. THE MASTERTON SEAT. REFORM CANDIDATE OPENS. MASTERTON, September 29. Mr G R. Sykes, M.P., opened his campaign oi the Opera House to-night, and was accorded a good hearing and a vote of thanks He declared himself a straight-out supporter of Mr Massey. There was no place in the House for an Independent memuer, he said.
