Taieri County Council wrote as-to'-the road -’to nm ,121 a. Hummock, and advised that.it was prepared to metal the road at a probable cost of £4O. Under the proposition the Waikouaiti was expectod-to pay one-half. —The proposal was approved of. The council agreed to contribute the sum of £lO 10s towards the Pearson Fund. Expansion League, writing as ,to-the North Harbour road, ask-ed that -it "’might be''repaired and the high Way improver}."" Similar requests were being mode to other local bodies in connection with their portion of , the road. A number of residents wrote on ( t.he same subject.—To bo informed that a Government grant for the road had already V-been applied for IMr Chas. Jewell (Evansdale) wrote that some time ago h© had been -asked about a piece of ground for a pound. Ho was prepared to let the council have three-quarters of an acre near the station. About three chains of fencing would be required.—Left in the hands of the chairman, Crs M’Gill and Gilmore to deal with. Mr A. Robertson wrote accepting the position of ranger.—Received. Mr D. G. Williamson, Nenthorn, wrote that ho understood that there was sufficient accumulated land fund from small grazing run 121 j for the erection of a proposed bridge over the Nenthorn Creek. He.asked that the construction of the bridge bo proceeded With as soon as possible.—lnspector to prepare the necessary plans. Two tenders were received- for the supply and delivery of 110 yards of metal for Hayward's Point road, but neither was accepted. The Inspector reported with regard to North-East Valley Riding, that 104 yards of metal had been -spread on the Mam road, Mount Cargill, and! blinded. The remainder of the metal was now being quarried and hand-broken. Fifteen inch pipes had been put on the Waitati-Wakari road in place of the culvert which had broken down. The road had been widened past the slip near Bunn’s bridge -and the stone from the cutting broken into metal and spread on the road. - Pigeon Flat road required 40yds of maintenance' metal.—Ap proved; the necessary metal required to bo procured -and placed on the road. —As to Hawksbury Riding, the water-tables had been cleared out and pot-holes filled with gravel on the main road. Ruts on Jeffries’ road had been filled in with metal, and a culvert had been repaired on Flag Swamp road. Ruts had been filled in on Stony Peak road and Stenhouse’s road. The remainder of the River road had been surfaced ; also Snell’s road. The roads m the northern district were in fairly good order, but the road on the fiat required grading, and the water-tables on Zig-zag Hi!’ road deepened. The Eldorado road ford was washed out, and would be put in order as soon as -a team was available. The bridge required some slight repairs.—Approved, and the work in Nenthorn district to bo dono when the team was available. —- With regard to Merton Riding, the inspector reported that 84 tons of metal bad been spread on the Karitanc-Seacliff road, and 12yds on the road from Puketerald to Merton; Nine-inch pipes had been laid on ilia road at Soacliff, and the water-tables cleaned out through Seacliff township, and several portions of the rood between Seacliff and Karitane. Improvements hod been effected to portions of Porteous road, and the mountain track had been surfaced. The bridge at M’Gillivray's road had been damaged, and required a few hundred feet of timber, a subsidence at the side of the road near the top of Kihnog Hill road was now being filled in.—Approved; inspector to procure the timber and repair M’GilHvray’s bridge.— As to Blueskin Riding, the inspector reported that a few yards of metal had been broken and loose metal raked in on main road, between "Wnitati and the water trough. The greater portion of Hayward’s Point road had been surfaced, loose metal raked off and the road blinded with rotten rock. AVatertablcs had! been cleaned out on School and Station roads, at Purakanui, and the bend on the Cemetery road had been widened. About 100yds of metal were required for Double Hill road. The water-tables on this road could now be cleaned out as fhe gorse was being cut.—Approved, and 100yds of metal tc be procured tor Double Hill road.
