The Union Company’s steamer Ngakuta (1775 tons), with a full load of cool for Wellington, left the Greymouth wharf about 1 o’clock this morning, and in ~ swinging touched a gravel bank on the Cobden side of the river. The vessel, which was refloated at 11 a.m. ■without any assistance, was not damaged, and left for Wellington this afternoon. The Kahika left Dunedin on Saturday afternoon for Oamaru, Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, Nelson, and New Plymouth. The Storm left Dunedin on Saturday for Lytteton, Pioton, and Wanganui. The Calm, from Bluff, is due here early this week to load for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, and Wanganui. The Katoa, which left Auckland on Friday night for Wellington, Lyttelton, Bluff, and Dunedin, la due here about Thursday, and will'return to Auckland from this port, via Oamaru, Timaru, Lyttelton, and Wellington. TEHMERB, FROM NEW YORK The Federal Lino advises that the Tremere, from New .York, via Auckland, is to leave Wellington to-morow for Lyttelton and Dunedin, where she will complete discharge. Line’s latest despatch from New York was the Port Auckland, which was scheduled to leave that port on September 7 with cargo for New Zeaand ports, AN! INFLUX OF STEAMERS. The same line’s steamer OtaH waa scheduled to leave New York yesterday for New Zealand and Australian ports. I/BSIPERANCB ROCK DANGER. Coptain W. W. Barlow, of the Waiotapu, reports that the Havre Rook was observed by him to bear 311 deg. distant 6.6 miles from L’Esperanco Rook, the sea being rough, and a considerable break being observed. Mariners are cautioned to give L’Esperance Rock a wide berth, as other submerged obstructions may exist in this locality, which has been only partially examined. PAPAROA PASSED COLON. The New Zealand Shipping Company has received cabled advice that the steamer Paparoo, which is bringing the passengers from the damaged Remuera to New Zealand, cleared Colon on August 31, en route from Southampton to Wellington. She is due at Wellington on September 26, a little earlier than waa expected. KAIKOURA, FOR LONDON. The Kaikoura is expected to leave Wellington to-day for London, via Montevideo, and Las Palmas. PORT NAPIER DUE SHORTLY., Messrs J. W. Swift, and Co. advise that the Port Napier is to leave Wellington this afternoon for this port, and is due here on Wednesday. She will dock at Port Chalmers for cleaning and painting, and will load there and at Bluff, Timaru, Wellington, Napier, and Auckland. The vessel is to leave Auckland on October 10 for London, via Montevideo. ROYAL MAIL STEAMERS. The Makura hi to leave Sydney on September 21, and Auckland on September 26 for Tonvoueer, via ports, i The Niagara k due at Vancouver bn September 16. She is to leave Vancouver on September 23 for Honolulu, Suva, and Auckland, being due at Auckland on October 13. The Maunganui, from Sydney, is to leave Wellington to-morrow for Rarotonga, Papeete, and Son, Francisco. She is to leave the last-named port on October 6 for Wellington and Sydney. NEW TUGS COMING- FROM LONDON. Two tugs that are practically brand now have sailed from London for New Zealand (states a cable message). One, named the Si. Giles, k a steel screw ketch of 465 tons gross register, 870 tons net, which was built in 1919 by Ferguson ■ Brothers, Port Glasgow, of the following dimension*; Length, 135.4 ft; depth, 29ft; breadth, 13.6 ft. She has one deck, and is fitted with electric light. The other k the St. Olavee, 468 tons gross register, 371 tom net, a steel screw steamer, built by Borland and Wolff, Ltd., of Glasgow, in ISI9, and with dimensions almost identical Designed for towing purposes, the St Olavea is classed A 1 at Lloyd's, and has one steel dock, and also an installation of electric lighting. Chathams; Port Sydney. Stratlomo THE NEW MOLDAVIA. The P. and O. Company’s latest requisition, the R.M.S. Moldavia, a 15,800-tonner, which replaces the steamer of tho some name lost during the war, is to take up the Australian mail service, and she will leave London in October on her maiden voyage. The Moldavia will be in command of Captain 0. W. Burleigh. D. 5.0., R.N.R., and she will leave Sydney on her Homeward voyage on December 12 NEW LAMB STEAMER The Gabriella, a new steamer recently purchased by Messrs R. S. Lamb and Co., lately arrived at Sydney from Sunderland to run in the ihter-State trade. The Gabriella is a steel screw steamer of 1693 tons gross and 965 tons not. She was built at Antwerp two years ago, and originally sailed under the Belgian flag. Her dimensions are: Length, 250 ft; beam, 38ft 7in; and depth, 17ft. She is propelled by triple-expansion engines, with cylinders 20in, 33in, and 54in in diameter, and a stroke of 88in. Classed 100 A 1 at Lloyd’s, tho Gabriella is fitted with electric light, wireless, and all modem equipment for the working of cargo.
