ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
TWO INQUESTS. { A man named Andrew James Dreaver, who was admitted to the Hospital on Monday night suffering from a compound fracture of the'thigh, died early yesterday morning. Deceased, who was 48 years of age, was a farmer near Palmerston. The accident which resulted in his death was caused by a fall from a tree while ho was trimming it. He was attended, by the Palmerston doctor, who ordered hia removal to Dunedin by ambulance. 1 An inquest was opened by Mr H. W. Bundle, S.M., yesterday morning, evidence of identification being given by deceased’s brother. Dr Colvin, assistant medical officer at the Hospital, gave evidence , that the fradture was set early on the morning of August 1. Septicaemia (Wood poisoning) set in on August 2. It became general, and the patient grew weaker and died. The inquest was adjourned till this morning, when ihe evidence of the wife wifl. be taken. Deceased leaves, one son. Samuel Wilson, an old man 70 years of age, who lived with his brother at Saddle Hill, had a seizure on Thursday and died shortly after having been put bo bed. As deceased bad not recently been attended by a doctor an inquest was necessary, and was conducted by Mr J. R. Bartholomew, S.M., at Moagiel yesterday. Evidence was given by the deceased’s brother, John Wilson, by his brother’s wife, and by Dr t>haw. Constable Findlay represented the police. The Coroner returned a. verdict in accordance with the medical evidence that deceased died of heart failure, due to senile decay.
