DUNEDIN FREE KINDERGARTEN ASSOCIATION.

The monthly meeting of the committee of the Dunedin Free Kindergarten Association was held on Thursday afternoon.' ' There were present: Miss Alexander (president), Mesdames Gilkison, Hutchison, Glendining. Hoisted, Phillips, E. Theomin, Isaacs, Wright, Taverner, Hancock, Smith, Cameron. Lough. Misses Kelsey and Scott. The secretary reported that the Westport Coal Company and the Wanganui Coal Company had each donated one ton of coal, Mr Caudwoll throe bags of ooal, and Messrs Fletcher Bros, four bags of wood. As heating is a groat expense during the cold •weather, the committee is most grateful for these donations. One small 'boy at St. Kilda Kindergarten, on receiving a child’s chair for a birthday present, immediately presented it to tho Kindergarten. Other donations to St. Kilda during the month have been a large woollen ball, a wheelbarrow, some floor stain, and a carpet for the teachers’ room. All these help to make the newly-opened Kindergarten better equipped and more home-like. It was dArided that tho kindergartens shpuld dose for holidays from August 25 till September 12. The collector handed in subscriptions amounting to £22 3s 6d, and £1 12s was received from St. Kilda community singing. The St. Kilda sub-committee has now been farmed, Mrs Dove acting as convenor and Mrs Lane as secretary.
