CHRISTIAN ENDEAVOUR SOCIETY
The St. Hilda Methodist Junior Christian Endeavour Society celebrated its anniversary on Sunday last, when interesting services were held. The members took part in the morning worship, contributing hymns and choruses. Allan. Muir and Russel Norris recited aud Owen Wills read the lesson. The minister of the church, the Rev. B. Metson, gave an object lesson on the “magnet,” showing the drawing power of Jesus, and bringing out many helpful lessons from the text, John X2 and 32. hast evening the annual social was held, and an enjoyable programme was presented by the juniors and their leaders, the following taking part;—Piano solo, Mass Kothi© Baird; solo, Miss Nellie Howie; duet, Misses K, Muir arid R. Ede; recitations—A. Shilcock, E. Shiloock, and Allan Muir; and a party item by members, “The Hayseeds at the Pictures'.”
The yearly report, which shewed excellent work and numerical growth, was' read by the secretary, Miss D. Baird, and the treasurer's statement revealed a surplus of 30s on the year’s work. Prizes were presented to the following.—'Special: Phyllis Bragg©, Jack Shiloock, Nellie Howie, and Thelma Muir. For perfect attendance: Jack Shilcock, Ernest and Cyril Alderaon, and Wilson Steffens. Absent one Sunday during the year: Thelma and Kathleen Muir and Thelma. Shilcock. Others; A. Shilcock, R. Stubley, M. Hazlehurst, Kathy Baird, R. Norris, Ernest Hutchings, and Mavis Marshall.
