The Nationalist paper Vaderland publishes a secret circular which, it was : : stated, was issued from the Prime Minis- ;J ter’s office to the Police and Defence Departments covering a declaration made by, - a German before the British Ambassador' in Berlin that one of the leaders^of the ’‘.v’ 1914 rebellion, who escaped to Germany, ,j intends shortly to return to South Africa and to make another attempt. The circa- K lar alleges that two of his emissaries have already left Gennanv to open nego- ; tiations with his friends, and that he himself will follow in a few months. . ' / party is said to have plenty of arms and ammunition, and as soon as the, leader ar- ’ rivee a big expedition will be undertaken. It is farther stated that the immigration authorities report that one of the persona .■* mentioned has already arrived, and that the other has applied for permission to return to South Africa. The Nationalist press ridicules the idea of any rising. The Yaderland states that the leader mentioned intends to return, to " South Africa and surrender himself to ; stand his trial for the part he ‘took in tha v 1914 rebellion.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
