THE WHEAT MARKET. LONDON, August 2. (Received August 3, at 5.5 p.m.) Wheat cargoes opened easy and improved later. Australian ii firm. Parcels show a slight advance, and near positions are in demand.—A, and N.Z. Cable. WOOL SALES. LONDON, August 2. At the wool sales there was a very poor selection, chiefly “Bawxa” and Capes. A few Australian merinos which were offered realised full late rates. Crossbreds were very firm.—A, and N.Z, (Cable. TALLOW AND TIN, LONDON, August 2. At the tallow soles 1840 casks were offered and 339 sold. Prices were unchanged, but showed an easier tendency. Tin stocks, 20,364 tons; 1 spot, 2836 tons; afloat, 725 tons; delivered, 2733 tons.—A, and N.Z. Cable. LONDON SHARE MARKET. LONDON, August 2, Waihi Grand Junction; Buyers, 7s 6d; sellers, 8s 9d.—A. and N.Z. Cable. INDIAN TEA SALES, CALCUTTA, August 2. At the tea sales the quality generally was rather above recent averages. The market is strong and active. Good ordinary common grades were from three to six pioe dearer. Better class pekoe and orange pekoe were from half to one anna higher. Pannings were steady and difficult to sell. Dust was very firm.—A. and N.Z. Cable. AUSTRALIAN MARKETS; SYDNEY, August 3. (Received August 3, at 9.30 p.m.) Oats, 3a to 8s Id. PROPERTY SALE Messrs Alex. Harris and Co. report having offered at auction yesterday in the estate of Elizabeth Rose Wilkinson (deceased),.part of section 17, block XVIII, Dunedin, having a frontage of 34ft to York place, by 132 ft, with a five-roomed house thereon (No. 101 York place). The property was passed in, the bidding not reaching the reserve, hut it was sold immediately afterwards to a client for £9OO
