HIS MAJESTY’S THEATRE. It is always gratifying to good , talent to find itself appreciated, and in this respect the present combination of the famous Diggers is proving no exception. Good houses ore drawn at every performance, and, judging by the tumultuous applause, it is plain to see that the entertainment provided meets with the thorough approval of patrons. Mr Joe Valli, who made such an impression on the last visit with his sketch “Tickets, Please,” is well to the fore again with comicalities hard to beat, and his characterisation in the absurd sketch. “The Raw Recruit,” creates a continual bubble of merriment, besides which be shows more of his capability as an eccentric daheer. Mr Bernard Beeby, a ban tone, is late of J. C. Williamson’s “Maid of the Mountains” company, and his fferings meet with continual applause from the audiences to whom he has been introduced One of the “star” items of the new pro gramme is Gus Dawson’s dance scona, “The Scarecrow’s Awakening,”. a remarkable conception staged in a unique setting. Mr Dawson, ivho left the Diggers about, a year ago, went to Sydney and joined J. C. W>l* liamson’s, and the six months’ engagement under that management has made of him an artist of no mean order. Frank' Moran, whose song, “My Mother’s Shawl,” evoked roars of laughter in last programme, comes to the front again with more mirth-provox-ing offerings than ever, particularly “Tho Toreador.” The whole programme is suffused with an abundance of clever highclass comedy, new and haunting son g numbers numerous dance presentations, both .solo and duet, while Frank Pprryn, the “Robey” comedian, gives an excellent impression of Wilkie Bard's,'.’ ‘Stage Cleaner,” besides some further offerings from his repertoire of character studies.
