Peake, secretary to the New - Zealand Cricket Council, states that theg English cricketers’ tour of the dominion under A. C. Maclaren will be a M.C.C. team. Originally it was intended to open the tour in Hew Zealand, but at Mao J laren’s request it has been agreed that the I team should play first in Australia, arriv- < ing in New Zealand at the' end. of Novem- ■> ber. The dominion tour is to extend over ’ eight weeks, and at its conclusion the team returns to Australia for a further aeries ' of matches. The New Zealand Council has - practically agreed with the Australian oreooiations as to the conditions governing - matches in the commonweal th, and Mr D. 1 Reese, who is shortly going to Australia, •" will complete the ariangements. CHRISTCHURCH, May M. An invitation to the South African. Cricket Association to send a team to the -J dominion was extended by the Now Zealand Cricket Council some time ago. Bennett, manager of the South African football team which M j lately in New Zealand, I am instructed to v inform you that the executive of this aa> rsociation has given the fullest consider*- . : tion to your land invitation for a South. 1 African cricket team to visit New Zealand. ■ My executive regrets, however, that it is . . impossible to send a teem during the season 1922-23, as it is pledged to receive * ■ M.O.C. team in this country. Farther, it is ' intended to send a South African team to England in 1924, and my executive fear* ■ very much, therefore, that it will be impossible to arrange any visit to.
