P. AND T. ASSOCIATION
MEETING OF DELEGATES. NO DECISION YET. (From Our Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, May 5. The general conference called by - the executive of the Post. and ■ Telegraph Officers’ Association met in Wellington this morning to discuss. the situation.created by the refusal of the Goyeminent to permit the the affiliation, of , the- association-with the Alliance of "Labour. The executive, which had already' considered the matter for several days, explained the position to the delegates and told them what had been done already. A general discussion followed. The conference met again in the afternoon. Subsequently the secretary of the association (Mr H. E. Combs) told a reporter that the delegates meet again this morning. He anticipated that they., would b© able-to complete their business during the day. The indications . are that the delegates will neither withdrew the affiliation proposal unconditionally nor offer direct defiancp to the Government. Their disposition, apparently, is. to - put forward proposals that may' or may not -provide a •basis for 'further- discussion' between the Minister andi the association.
