SLOT TELEPHONES. '.TO THE EDITOR. - Sib, —I had occasion to use one of the telephone boxes a few days ago.. Two pennies were inserted and no reply received. I inquired at the post office near by whetner the box was out of order, and was told that it was not, and that if I went back I would he attended to, but I had to put in another penny before I received a reply, and although I told the attendant that I' had previously, inserted two pennies neither of them was returned. What is the reason? Is the -Government determined add to the revenue in this way, or is it the fault of the attendants at the exchange? The Government does not give the public anything for nothing. This is not the first, but one of many times, that tne same thing has happened. Pair play is needed.—l am, etc. • pGEPEBB,
