From an even despatch Pitch, Marcus, and Laky Robin headed the field. Along tho back stretch Suspicion moved up into third place, and in the final stretch gained a lead sufficient to enalble him to win comfortably by four lengths, a head betweea second and third. Time, Imin 55 l-6sec. JUVENILE HANDICAP. Five furlongs. —King’s Trumpeter, 9.1 (H. Goldfinch), 1; Kahikatea, 6.9, 2; Goldlight, 8.8, 3. Also started; Rapine 9.12, Viyella 8.8, Morose 9.7, Mountain Lion 9.0, Good Sport 8.4, Diamond Ring 6.7, Ad Astra 9.5, Kaotane 7.5. Ad Astra, Good Sport, and Mountain Lion led off from a good despatch. At the turn' for home the remainder of the field closed up, and a good struggle saw King’s Trumpeter emerge to win by o, length, the same distance between second and third. Time, Imin 2 l-ssec. A. Tho four runners faced the starter, Gloaming being favourite. .Haurangi led Kick Off and Gasbag, and Gloaming was last at the railway bend. Gloaming moved' up into third place turning into the straight, and gradually improved his position to win by three-quarters of a length, half a length between second and third. Time, Imin 38 4-ssec. BURKE MEMORIAL STAKES. One mile and a-quartot.—Grotesque, 8.9 (E. Reed), 1; Matatua, 6.7, 2; Tari, 6.7, 3. Also started: Vagabond 8.1, Disse;rtation 7.8, Bagdad 6.9, Sycorax 8.7, Festivity 7.8, Bonnie Heather 7.1, Bonnetter 8.1,' Paonui 7.8. A field of 11 faced tho starter. Passing the stand the order was; Tari, Matatua, and Dissertation, Bonnetter being last. This order was maintained till round the back stretch, when Matalua moved closer, the remainder of the field being on the leader's’ tails. When tho straight was reached Dissertation was put to it, and seemed to be ahead, but coming to the judge’s Ibox Grotesque was going fast, with Matatua and Tari bandy, but Grotesque had the race well in hand, and won by a neck, three-quarters of a length between second and third. Time, 2min 5 2-ssec. OKAWA HANDICAP. Six furlongs.— Anomaly, 9.8 (A. Olliver), 1; Civilform, 8.12, 2; Prince Randall, 7.1, 3. Also started: Asterina 7.0, Kikini 6.1, Jovial 9,3, Crown Gem 7.1, Rviruwai 6.7. Civilform, Kikifii, and Prince Randall showed the way to the entrance of the straight, when Anomaly, who had been gradually making his position better, put in his claim, and made a good race with Civilform, beating him by half a length, a neck between second and third. Time, Imin I4sec. OHITI HANDICAP. Nine furlongs.— Aotifid, 7.5 (A. G. Dixon), 1; Hyrax, 8.9,2; Queen’s Up, 7.11, 3. Also started: Cleft 8.0. Hyttus 7.5. Earthshine .6,10, Black Art 6.7, Correspondent 8.9, Armorel 6.7, Woden 6.11. Hyrax was first out, with Woden and Correspondent close on his heels. At the back stretch Woden took tho premier place, then Hyttus, Hyrax, and Correspondent. A great race ensued in tho straight. Cleft making a groat try on. the- rails, but Actifid, from out of the bunch, made his claim, and beat Hyrax by neck,' tho same distance between second and third. Time, Imin 55 l-ssec. AKITO HANDICAP. Six furlongs.— Sunny Spec, 7.12 (H. Goldfinch), 1; Scotch Mixture, 9.9, 2; Golden Light, 7.10, 3.
