BOWLING TOURNAMENT

RINKS COMPETITION CONCLUDED. The final games in the rinks competition of the Easter bowling tournament, which had to be postponed last week on account of bad weather, were played on the Caversham green yesterday afternoon. Mr F. J, .Lough was umpire. The green was in excellent playing order, but the course of the bowling, as it turned out, was somewhat uninteresting, as, with the exception of a semi-final game in the City Rinks, the games were won by a substantial majority. The first semi-final game in the City Rinks between Seddon (St. Clair) and Marshall (Kaitiuia) resulted in a runaway victory for the former. The winners’ score included a five and a four. In the other semi-final game M'Gillivray (Roslyn) won by one point from Robertson (St. Kilda). In the early stages of the game M'Gillivray led 6—4. but Robertson came up to 9 at the tenth head. M'Gillivray maintained the lead at 12—11, and made one point in the thirteenth and fourteenth heads. In the next head Robertson lay two, making the score 14—15 against him. but he lost the chance of the last head as the bell wont. In'the final Seddon beat M'Gillivray 29—9. In the Provincial Rinks, Sanders (Kaituna) had an even game with Wedderspoon (Roslyn). At the eleventh head Kaituna was leading 12 —10, and in the next two lieads they increased their score to 15—10. At the fifteenth head the score was 17—11. Kcslyn made three points in the last head, and would probably have shown up to better advantage had the game been longer. Wright (Balmacewon) maintained a lead all through Ins game with Blackwood (Oaversham) and won by 16 to 10. Oayershom came up throe points in the last two heads. The final of this competition, like the City Rinks, did not provide the spectators with much’ interest, as Sanders beat Wright easily 27 —15. In the finals full-length games were played.
