The following figure/ relating to the coal production of the dominion and tho number of persons ordinarily employed in or about coal mines during 1920 and 1921 were supplied to one of our reporters yesterday by the Hon. Northern district West Coast 3*9 U&O4 Canterbury, Otago and Southland. 1245 l,in4 Totals - 4-505 4,078 Comparing the respective periods, these figures show that there was a total decrease in the output of 40,224 tons ar.d an increase of 428 in the number of men employed. For the southern district (Canterbury, Otago, and Southland) the decrease was 55,093 tons; and for the W est Coast 16,346 tons. In the North Island there was an increase of 31,115 tons.
