DUNEDIN HOSPITAL GUILD
• The. thirteenth annual report of the Dunedin • Hospital Guild is one of steady work. Thirteen meetings were held during the year, and the following articles were forwarded to the General Hospital for distribution in the children’s ward: 12 pairs of slippers, 2S nightgowns, 14 dressing jackets, 4 dressing gowns, 44 vests; —a total of 100 garments. To tho Convalescent Home Hft Warrington were sent: 10 men’s reels, 87 nigthgowns, % 7 dressing gowns, 9 flannels, 40 women’s vests, 4 men’s singlets, 13 women’s singlets, 4 dressing jackets, 6 pairs slippfrrS, li pairs bedsocks, 30 pair knickers, 19 bed jackets;—■ a total of 191 garments. It will thus be seen that 291 garments were distriutbd during the year. The average attendance at the sewing meetings was 36. It is hoped that the coming year will show an improvement in this respect, as the guild has suffered a serious loss of several faithful workers. Tho treannrer, Miss Hutchison, who has sailed for England, tfcn'dered lief resignation offer 21 years'- service. Tho final meeting ,of the year took tire form of a fa rewell to Miss Hutchison. During the gftemoon the president, on behalf of the members, presented Miss Hutchison with a gold wristlet watch, a. gold-mounted fountain pen, fend’ some books. Two hand sewing machines Were disposed of at fc ■ satisfactory figure, and the purchase of' a treadle on© in their stead is, under consideration. The legacy left the guild by the.late Mrs Oliver has been lent for a period of three years at ,6, per cent, interest. ; The treasurer's report Shows a credit, balance of £lB la lid. Letters of acknowledgment ’ and appreciation have been ; received by the secretary fr6m time to time from the secretary of tho General Hospital, and from Sister Nora on behalf of the Convalescent Home. The following letter from the, matron mil show how much tho work of the guild is appreciated; “Will you kindly convey to the laches of the Hospital Guild my sincere thanks lor the garments, supplied to the James Powell Rest Horae. ■ They hays been greatly appreciated by the patients, many of Whom 'werd in needy circumstances."
