A NEW RELIGION
RATANA'S CODE FORMULATED. (Peb United Press Association.) WANGANUI, .April 22. The Herald loams from a reliable source that Ratana’s covenant book was closed on Easter Monday, and the Katahitanga (union) established with a membership of 24,410. Ralana’s platform briefly states that the only conditions of membership of the union are obedience to Ratana’s message, acceptance of absolute faith m the Christian God, and the renouncing of Maori superstition; that all who are not Imptised shall Tie baptised forthwith; that marriage lie more sincerely honoured; that greater care bo taken of children, who should be wisely fed and tended; that people should pray for the power to eschew intoxicating liquor; that cigarette smoking among children and women nursing infants be discontinued; that family prayers be held in every home; that the duration of tangis be curtailed; that the people should retain membership of those churches founded on Christian faith ; and that even if Rabana himself should fail he has now shown them the right way.
