BIBLE CLASS CAMP
SUCCESSFUL GATHERING AT WANGANUI (P«b United Press Association.! WANGANUI, April 20. The biggest Easter camp ever hold by the New Zealand Presbyterian Young Men’s Bible Claeses’ Union has just ended after a very successful and enjoyable session. The camp was located at Sandy Hook, on the banks of the Wanganui River, about five miles above the town. The site proved ideal for the purpose, being within reach of the trains and yet possessing tjie charms of rural isolation. About 450 delegates from all parts of New Zealand were present, and these were comfortably accommodated, the local committee having made very complete arrangements. With the exception of Friday evening—when a small cyclone threatened to wreck the camp, and succeeded in tearing down tjje big marquee in which the meetings were held—the weather was delightful. The health ,of the camp was remarkably good, and there was almost a total absence .of complaints. The principal speakers were the Rev. W. J. Comrie- (Moderator elect of the Presbyterian General ’ Assembly), Mr G. Manson (president of the union), the Revs. A- K. Stone. Frazer Barton, W. Bower Black, J. M’Kenzie, and other Bible Class stalwarts. ( ■ Once again history repeated itself. When the camp was held in Wanganui 14 years ago, it was resolved to send a special missionary 'to China- At the camp held in Wanganui this year it was decided to extend missionary activities by sending Mr Morton Rybum to India. The union decided to stand, solidly by the New Zealand Alliance in its prohibition effort this year. The annual athletic competitions evoked much interest. The shield, which replaces the old banner, was won by St. Paul’s (Wanganui). Tile local management made special, arrangements to keep the camp an extra day, free of charge to campers, in, order that visitors might see the sculling championship.
