Cable. MOHAMMEDAN CLAIMS. THE BRITISH STANDPOINT. UTMOST PUBLICITY URGED. LONDON, March 27. The Constantinople correspondent of The Times states that ne is dubious about the Turkish acceptance of the armistice proposals. The Nationalists insist that it will be acceptable only if Thrace is included with Allied guarantees for the Grecian evacuation of Anatolia.—Times. The Daily Mail nrges the Allied Governments to state the Conference proposals and the ultimate Turkish policy immediately with the utmost publicity throughout the East, particularly from the British standpoint, in order to convince the Moslems of our intention to safeguard Mohammedan claims.—A. and N.Z. Cable. THE CARPETED JOURNALISTS. LONDON, March 27. The French Press gives prominence to the carpeted journalists’ incident. According to a Paris correspondent, M. Poincare formally interrogated M. Bassis, the correspondent of the Havas Agency, but this action generally is attributed to Lord Curzon, who was present at the interview. The Parisian newspapers are surprised and irritated at Lord Curzon’s action. Another correspondent (“Pertinax”) was privately questioned.—Times.
