’ TRADE WITH GERMANY. RESUMPTION ADVOCATED. Pieas Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. MELBOURNE, March 23. Mr Hughes, in advocating a resumption of trade with Germany, criticised the ac tion of the Conference of Chambers of Commerce at Hobart, which urged a post ponement till January. Mr Hughes stated that as a result of Germany buying coarse wool a glut was prevented. This possibly made a difference of from £3,000,000 to £4,000,000 to Australia. All other parts of the world were trading with Germany. Australia must have markets for her primary products, and she would be unable to sell to Germany unless she bought from her in return. PLAGUE IN SYDNEY. MOTOR MECHANIC’S DEATH. SYDNEY, March 23. A motor mechanic, who worked and lived in the city, died from septicaemia plague. He was admitted to the hospital on Monday. UNEMPLOYMENT IN N.S. WALES. SYDNEY, March 23. The official unemployment figures for the State show that 11,000 persons were idle at the end of February, which is 2000 fewer than in January. (Received March 24, at 0.40 a.m.) The High Court has fixed next Wednesday in Sydney for the hearing of the application by Colin Ross for leave to appeal against the Full Court’s decision, dismissing the former appeal.
