DRUIDISM

At the quarterly meeting of Linden Lodge A D. Bro. Robertson presided over a splendid attendance of members. D.P. Bro. Reeves and P.D.P. Bro. Beasley paid an official visit. The Grand Lodge order paper was discussed, and members were oongratulalcil by the visiting officers on the most capable manner in which the order paper was dispensed with. The regular meeting of All Nations Lodge was held in the Druids’ all, Port Chalmers, A.D. Bro. Rennie presiding over a good muster of members. £l7 was passed for sick pay. Bros. G. Thompson and F. Smith were nominated as judges for the Royal Arch Chapter competitions. The office of Outside Guardian and Vice-Arch Bards being vacant, Bros. W. Wilson and J. Walker were elected and duly installed into their respective offices by D.P. Bro. Reeves. The Grand Lodge officers, accompanied by P.G.P. Bro. Flanagan, of the North Island Grand Lodge, were received. Bro. Flanagan gave a lucid address on the aims of the “Druidic Gazette.” and spoke of Druidism in general. P. A Bro. Baird presided over the fortnightly meeting of the Lily of the Valiev Lodge in the absence of the A.D. P.G.P. Bro. Flanagan and G.T. Bro. Birt, representing the Grand Lodge, were officially welcomed, as were the officers and members of tho Royal Arch Chapter. Bro. Flanagan outlined the aims of the “Druidic Gazette,” and gave a short address on the welfare of the order. It was decided to hold the installation of Bro. Baird as District President for No. 1 District, on April 5, all (he lodges to be invited. A special meeting of the Royal Arch Chapter was held in the Warntah Tea Rooms. R.A.D. Bro. Lethaby presiding over a fair attendance. The business was the granting of degrees to country members prior to tbeir taking a seat at the Grand Lodge Conference. A brother from the Lily of the Valley Lodge received his P.A. degree. A donation of a guinea was noted from G.P. Bro. Walsh. Tho Good Intent T<odge donated a sum to the trophy fund. No further business coming before the chapter, it was decided to pay an official visit to the Lily of the Valley Lodge on the occasion of an address by 11.G.P.I I .G.P. Bro. Flanagan. The Otago Lodge held its usual fortnightly meeting in tho hall. Rattray street, A.D. Bro. Muirhead presiding over a good attendance. Routine business was promptly got over in order to hear the {epresentarives to the recent Grand Lodge meeting give their report, which was duly received and a vote of thanks accorded them. The item on the syllabus was “ Ten Minutes in the A.D. Chair.” A number of cast officers had rather an amusing time with the many questions out to them for their decisions. It was decided to take part in the general efficiency competition. A candidate was received into the membership, and two proposed for consideration.
