MEAT EXPORT TAX
EXPORTERS AND AN AGREEMENT REACHED. (Pii Umttsd Paris Associatios.) CHRISTCHURCH, March 21. An agreement has been arrived at between exporters and auctioneers in regard to the collection of the levy on meat for export imposed by the Government in connection with the new meat pool system. A deputation representing the Exporters’ Association of New Zealand waited upon the Christchurch Woolbrokers’ Association, which includes stock auctioneers, end it was decided, in accordance with the expressed dealer of the producers that they should pay the levy, to issue the following formal notice by the exporters to the auctioneers: —“Meat export- tax: We formally give you notice that for the purpose of carrying out the order of the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board for the levy of Id )>er carcase on fat lambs and sheep and 2d on fat, cattle, al lour bids in auction from this date will be subject to the amount of the levy, and the gross amounts of all invoices rendered to us subsequent to sales must have this deduction made from them. We have already instructed our buyers that all purchases made by private treaty will be subject to the amount of this levy.”
