Amateur sports suggest the idea of fellows playing the game for its own sake, and of fighting for the team, with the result .that a fine spirit is engendered, while a defeated man is able to extend congratulations to hia successful opponent without hard feelings. The competition on Saturday promises to be a keen contest in which, while the Anglican, Pacific, and University Clubs will run close for the premiership, a fair number of points will be collected by other clubs. In several events larger fields are entered than was the case last year, and in addition the programme has been extended. Two extra field events are included in the list of championships—javelin and discus throwing—and three races—7s, 300 and 1000 yards handicaps—have drawn good defines. The 100 yards primary schools’ handicap has produced a field of 30, necessitating the running of four heats. The programme has been arranged so as to provide a continuity, both on field and on track, so patrons will be given a good afternoon’s sport at small cost. BOWLING. INTERCLUB FINAL.
