Tuesday, Mabch 01. (Before Mr J, K. Bartholomew, S.M.) Undefended Cases. —Orders were made in the following cases, by default:—H. Wise and) Co. (Ltd.) v. W. K. Webb and Co., of Papakura, £7 Is Bd, advertising in directory (costa £1 13s 6d): Ernest Wood Meaaent, of Middlemarch v. James Kennedy, of Dunedin, £7 19s 6d, for goods supplied (£1 10s IkH costs); same v. Miss M, Kennedy, £5 7s fid (£1 10s 6d costs): Stewart, Dawson and Co. (Ltd.) v. John M. Ellison, fl 17s Cd for poods supplied (14s. costs); Samuel Bros. v. T. Hitchcock, £7 8s 5d on account presented (£1 15s 6d costs). Standard Bent Fixed.—John Perkins (Mr J B. Gallan) applied to have the standard rout fixed for premises in Mncandrow road, occupied by Henry David! Niven—Mr Caliau staled that the landlord would bo satisfied if the rent was fixed as 15a, and he thought he would bo able to prove to bis Worship that that was a reasonable rate, Niven was now paying 11s 6d. Mr Perkins was the owner of two five-roomed houses, in one of which he lived himself, while tbo other was occupied by Niven.—Evidence was given by Hie landlord and by William Boss, builder. The bitter valued the bouse occupied by Niven at about rtiTU; in I9M it would be worth about £IH9. Defendant valued it at from £359 to £375, and submitted Government valuations in support of bis contention.—Mr Cuban remarked that the Government valuation was notoriously below tho capital value of properly—The Magistrate said! the evidence presented to him was very scant on both sides. Taking the difference hot wren the Government valuation and that of (be expert would give the. capital value of the property at £387.
