CRIME IN AUCKLAND
EPIDEMIC OF THEFTS. (Pm Dnitid Paws Absociatioii.l AUCKLAND, March 18. An epidemic of (hefts of cash lx)\08 < prevails in Auckland. Recently solicitor's offices in on© of the largest Queen street building-- were visited. While two of the suitf of Mr J. F. Koskmg. barrister anjl solicitor, were at work in (wo separate rooms, an intruder entered the main office, opened a small door in the counter and removed a cash box containing about £3&. It is stated that, the offices of two other solicitors wore entered and thefts committed on the same day. On Thursday a clerk employed by a well-known Auckland solicitor delivered a cheque at the wrong office. t>n discovering his mistake iho clerk wont to the office and asked for its return. A ladv clerk told him that while she was in the office (ho cash box containing the cheque as well as some money had been stolen.
