PROPOSED HOSPITALS BILL

«*»■ ARBITRARY CLAUSES. medical men dissatisfied. (Pee Press Association.) INYERCARGILL, January 18. Profound dissatisfaction is expressed by local medical men in connection with the proposed Hospitals’ Bill, and'they suggest that it should be referred to the Medical Conference which will meet at Wellington at the end of February. The arbitrary clauses imposing duties on medical men are considered, impracticable, and it is alleged that the new regulations and increased fees threaten to abolish small maternity homes which are a standby for poorer people. 'lt is declared that the Bill will destroy cordial co-operation between doctors and the department, which is essential in the interests of public health.
