SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS.

The Otago Swimming and Diving Championships will commence at the Municipal Tepid Baths on Saturday evening, and judging by the enthusiasm displayed by swimmers and follower® of the sport, the meeting should prove most successful. Probably never before in ’ Dunedin has there been such a number of aspirants for championship honours and such consistent training. The Otago Diving Championship should prove one of the most spectacular events of tho season, and included in the entrants are W. Cunningham (N.Z. champion), E. G. James (Otago champion), J. MTndoo. and H. E. Walker. On tho first night (Saturday) tho programme is made up of a ladies’ handicap, junior dive, ladies' dive, long plunge, interclub handicap G 6 2-3 yards, under-water swimming, back-stroke race, exhibition diving, water polo, and the championship events. Tho representative polo team will be selected from players faking part in the water polo match.
