The League dS Nations Council has offered to seek a settlement of the Eastern Karelian question if the Finnish and Soviet Governments are agreeable. The council has offered to co-operate with the Allies with a view to ensuring the protection of the Armenians in the Ottoman Empire.—A. and N.Z. Cable. I, FOUNDER BREAKS SILENCE DR WILSON’S CONFIDENCE. NEW YORK. January 16, (Received Jan. 16, at 9.25 p.m.) The New York Times Washington correspondent states that, breaking the silence which he has studiously maintained since leaving White House, Dr Wilson to-night renewed his faith in the vitality of the League of Nations. Following upon a greeting from a large crowd of men and women who marched to his home on the occasion of the launching of the million dollar Woodrow Wilson Foundation, will be used to record great deeds of public service. Dr Wilson said: “ The league can take or re of itself. Those who do not regard it will have to look out for themselves. I have no anxiety for it. My only anxiety is to see our great people turn their faces in the right direction and move with all their force. I thank? you most -heartily for the demonstration. I do not deserve it, but I enjoy 'it nevertheless." —A. and N.Z. Cable. ■
