CLOSING DOWN MOTION RESCINDED. There was an attendance of about 30 at the' special meeting of the Tapanui Racing Club, called at the request of five members, to rescind the motion passed at the previous meeting >to close the club down (says the Courier). In the absence of the president, Mr W. R. Quin (vice-president) occupied the chair. •

Mr T. Edgar said they all know that at last meeting it had been decided that the club should close down. He did not like to see the*.club, lose its permit, as he thought they were losing their birthright. Rule 4 provided that a membsr whose subscription was not paid could not vote, and as, the mover of tho motion was amongst the unpaid, the speaker thought it a chance to declare the meeting void fox non-compliance of the rules. Ho moved that the previous meeting be declared void.—Tho motion wqa seconded by Mr D. Niod, and was carried by a large majority. A special general meeting of members was held in the Town Hall at a later date. The president (Mr A. MTntyre) occupied... tho chair, and 30 members were present.
