PRINCESS THEATRE
“THE POOR MAN’S PARSON. For the third of the dramatic attractions which have provided such fine entertainment at the Princess Theatre, the Messrs Fuller have chosen a new and sensationally interesting drama entitled *’The Poor Malta Parson." in which the Rev. Frank Gorman and Fullers’ dramatic players will appear at the popular High street house this evening. The play has a deep moral undercurrent concerning the sycophants and parasites of society, and the/brave stand of an honest cleric. The ‘first act is devoted to the heroine Sylvia who, to save the honour of her aister.i shoulders the blame of a series of frauds practised upon the latter’s husband, and goes to gaol. The “poor man’s parson" appears in the following scenes, which are laid in the home of a duke, controlled by a masterful and sharp-tongued duchess, who has designed to marry her daughter to the pastor. The latter, However, having seen the martyred Sylvia in prison and fallen recklessly in love with her, declines the alliance, with the ducal family, and announces his intention to spend bis days among the poor This is a brief summary of a play which contains many othm- elements of drama, comedy, and sensation. The popular Rev. Frank Gorman appears as the parson, and has the support of the strong company who have won such favour*with Fuller patrons.
