Burnside, Wednesday, January' 4. Fat Cattle.—A large yarding of beef came forward for to-day's sale/ 250 head being penned. Prices opened below last week’s rates, and did not improve as the sale progressed. At the end of the day only prime bullocks met with any competition, and for these prices receded to the extent of 30s per head below opening rates. Medium and unfinished cattle were practically unsaleable, and a big proportion >f the yarding had to be turned out unsold. Prime bullocks sold from £lO 2s fid to £ll 12s fid; medium, from £7 5s to £8 10a; lighter kinds, from £5 upwards;' best cows and heifers, to £7 15s; medium, from £4 15® to £5 12'fid; others, from £4 upwards. (Pee United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, January 4. At Addington market to-day there was an over-supply of beef and prices further receded by about 20b per head. Mutton was easier by 2s to 2s 6d per head. Lambs sold well, freezing buyer® operating freely, up to sid per lb. 'they also bought a fair proportion of ewe and lighter wether mutton. , For store stock the market was dragging. . „ , Store Sheep;—There was practically no demand, only a few pens selling, and good forward four and six tooth wethers were passed at 13® 2d. Inferior four ’and six tooth wethers, 7s 2d to 7s 4d; fair two tooth wethers 6s 3d. Fat Lambs. —Four thousand nine hundred yarded, a complete clearance being effected. Extra prime lambs, 18s 3d .to 20®; prime, 16s to 18a; medium, 13s 9d to 16s 9d; inferior, lls to 13s 6d. Fat Sheep.—A moderate yarding and a poor sale, butchers having supplies from the'' previous market: Freezing operators took a good proportion of suitable weights.
