SWIMMING CARNIVAL

The swimming carnival hold under the auspices of the Y.M.C.A. Club in the Municipal Baths last night attracted a fairly good attendance, and was highly successful from a sporting point of view. Good times were put up, and the cheering at times was loud and lusty. There were several exciting finishes. The learners’ race was followed with much interest, and was a good performance for novices both in style and epeed. The spectators got much amusement from the water polo match, and the novelty race, a contest in which, with much spluttering and banging, the swimmers pushed y'an empty petrol tin before them. The polo 7 match between DJLS.C. and Y.M.C.A. was won by the former. . The diving, from ground board standing and running, and standing from the 10ft board, also aroused interest. Miss „ M.
