WASHINGTON CONFERENCE. VISCOUNT GREY’S VIEWS. NOT A RIVAL TO LEAGUE OB' NATIONS. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, October 23. (Received Oct. 24, at 5.5 p.m.) Viscount Grey, speaking at Birmingham, said he regarded the Washington Conference not as a rival to the League of Nations but as a co-operating power. The United States had summoned a conference with absolute sincerity in a desire to promote the peace of the world. If all the Governments put their cards on the table he was sure some' diminution of armaments must result.—A. and N.Z. Cable. ARRIVAL OF DELEGATES. THE CAPITAL EM FETE. ROUND OB’ SOCIAL FUNCTIONS.
