THE WEATHER
The unpleasant weather conditions which have prevailed since the beginning of the week continued yesterday, when rain fell intermittently up till the evening. A light north-east wind blow during the morning but later the wind veered to the southwest. From early morning the barometer continued to rise, and-there is every indication of a change in the weather for the better.
(Faoai Our Own Correspondent.)
MIDDLEMARCH, October 19. The weather continues in an unsettled state, light drizzling rain, with an occasional heavier shower, being the prevailing condition. Twenty-four points of moisture have been registered for the past sis days, with a total of lin 58 points for the month so far. The fall has been much heavier on the hill country, and the streams are in light flood. The Strath Taicri is glorious in its greenness just now, and there is promise of abundant feed for dairying much earlier than generally prevails. A resident of over 30 years in this district states that he has never seen the plain looking better at this time of year.
Mr P. H. Power, secretary of the Otago Motor Club, is in receipt of the following wire from the engineer of the Maniototo County:—“All rivers and creeks in the county are in high flood.”
