DIPHTHERIA IN SOUTH OTAGO.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—l notice in your issue of the I3th inst. that Mr A. North referred at a meeting of the South Otago Hospital Board to the occurrence of cases of diphtheria at Kaitunguta sad Ratanui and described the attitude of the family from Dunedin as almost criminal. As I am one of the parties chiefly concerned in the matter, 1 would like to say that if there is anything criminal in this case it is the Health Department that is to blame as the family from Dunedin had a clearance from the department at least three weeks before any of the members of the family travelled to the country.—l am, etc., « F. W. Jexks, Ratanui.
