Despite the inclement weather, there «u a very fair attendance at Leith Lodge last Monday night. N.G. Bro. Jones presided. A letter was received from the Grand Lodge expressing sympathy with Leith Lodge on, the death of the late Bro. Armstrong. An invitation to a " Sir "Walter Scott" night at Linden Lodge was accepted, and it was' resolved to visit officially. P.G.M. Bro. Miller then took tho chair, and entertained ' the lodge with an address entitled " The Mystic No. 7." This proved very interesting, many! queer instances being discussed. The N.G. reminded brothers of the need for more new members.

The usual meeting of Clutha Lodge No. 25 was held at Balclutha, Bro. H. H. Hey presiding over a good attendance of members. During the evening the N.G., assisted by his officers, initiated two members, and two other friends were proposed, to come forward at next meeting. Several transfers were granted to brothers who had removed from the district. Bro. Morgan was appointed a lodge reporter, and Bros. Gonqack and Scott as auditors. It was decided, on the motion of Bro. Downie, to hold the annual ball in September, the arrangements for which were left in the hands of a strong committee.

The regular meeting of Linden Lodge, held at Eoelyn on August 10, was ‘presided over by Bro. E. Brandon, N.G. . The meeting, colled for an early hour to permit of the holding of a lantern lecture at 8 o’clock, was well attended by officers and visiting brethren. It was decided to invite '.Unity Lodge to take charge at next meeting, and official visits to several city lodges were arranged. The committee organising the lodge bazaar to b® held next month furnished very satisfactory reports of proffered assistance from members and others. The lodge adjourned, and a large audience assembled hear Mi W. B. M’Ewan’e lecture on -Sip Walter Soott,” which was delivered with clarity and earnestness, and beautifully ilhuw trated by a fine rang® of lantern slides. Crooks), who is expected , to’ visit Dunedin shortly, caiieed some discifesion in committee, and preparations ware made for his arrival. P.D.DTG.M, ,Brb.. W* Smith and P.G. Bro. J. Peterson, in Bot>l jing to the visitors’ vote on behalf of Inbdctt Lodge, reminded tho brethren of ’ ; Mj» M’Ewan’s lantern lecture and of the forthcoming bazaar, both of which functions expect the support of the members of Maori ilill Lodge. The usual monthly meeting of the Sonthi Otago District and Degree lodges was held on Thursday last. The D.D.G.M. Bro. J. Skinner presided. Business relative to the welfare of all lodges was carried through with dispatch, Tho D.D.G.M. reported on his visit to Clutha Lodge on the occasion cf the installation. Unity Lodge submitted 'tbk names of seven of its members foir. approval as a committee to supervise and carry ontf the work of tne Juvenile branch about ito be opened by that lodge. The committee selected proved to be a very capable one, and the District Lodge had no hesitation in approving of and empowering it to superintend the work among the boys. Bro. Charles Bolton, P.G., had been elected president, with Bro, David Swinton, P.D.D.G.M. es vice-president, and best wishes were extended to brothers for the future success and prosperity of Kensington Juvenile Lodge, No. 5. Dujw ing the evening one brother attended to receive the second degree in Oddfellow»hi|>, Bro. Valentine, P.G.M., officiating as master.
