The New Zealand Football Association has decided not to entertain the application of the Wanganui Association for playing a North v. South Island match at Wanganui on September 3, in view of the fact that the Auckland v. Wellington Brown Shield match has been arranged for that day. It was decided that an endeavour be made to arrange such a match for a later date, and that as far as possible preference be given to junior players. The Canterbury Association advised that last Saturday two senior teams agreed not to play because snow was falling, although the referee declared the ground fit to play on.—lt was decided that the referee’s action was correct, and must be upheld. The selectors of the Otago Centre, New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association, have chosen the following to represent this province in tho New Zealand Cross-country Championship race to be held at Wellington on the 20'.h instant;—C. W. Frye, J. P. Forbes, J. Beatson, J. Stables, A. E. Kerr. Tho race is over a five-mile cross-country course, and will start on the Petone Racecourse, ' and then towards the Petone Hills. The president of the Pacific Harrier and A.A. Club (Mr C. W. Clark) will accompany the team os manager, Mr C. W. Frye as captain, and Mr J. Beatson as deputycaptain. The team will leave Dunedin on Thursday, and will be joined by the Canterbury representatives in Christchurch that evening. Teams representing Wellington (holders of the championship), Otago, and Canterbury will start in this race. RUGBY FOOTBALL. WRIGHT, STEPHENSON MATCH. The following will represent Wright, Stephenson, and Co. (Ltd.) in a match Dunedin branch - v.
