(Received August 12, at 9.40 p.m.) It is officially stated that 15 British soldiers on August 7 accompanied the French district controller in a search for hidden arms in the Rosenberg district, Silesia. They were attacked and fired on bv 300 Germans, and under threat of death the British surrendered the arms and the prisoners they had captured. Subsequently the German .plenipotentiary in Upper Silesia called on the British commissioner and apologised on behalf of the German Government for the unprovoked attack on the troops engaged in executing their lawful duty.—A. and I?.Z.
