EMPIRE THEATRE

(Thera is a partial cb' ge of programme at this popular house. The . new picture is a comedy drama, entitled “Chickens,” adapted from the Saturday Evening Post etory “Yanconna Yillies.” The story deals with the humorous, and, at times, tragio adventures of a wealthy city man, who takes to chicken farming as the result of his dead uncle’s will, aicred and abetted by love at first sight. The girl owns the Yanconna Yillies. the pride and envy of the countryside. Thcv command a fabulous price. The city man gets into serious financial difficulties through the dishonesty of his legal guardian and trustee. The Yanconna Yillies comes to the rescue, but rots before a series of incidents happen which are said to make “ Chickens ” one of the light comedy triumphs of the season. The Paramount drama “Paying the Piper” is being retained on the programme, and there is also a Mack Sennet comedy, cartoons. and travel subjects, and a very fine programme of incidental music by the Empire Orchestra, under Mr A. Pettitt, complete a fine entertainment.
