WELLINGTON POLICE COURT

(Pek United Phess Association.) WELLINGTON, August 11. William G. Downes, a post office official, was found guilty of failing to account for. moneys received on behalf of another Government Department, and was admitted, tp-.i probation for two years. In the course of the police evidence it was stated that accused sailed under an assumed name from Sydney, and was arrested there. Ho had represented that he held shares in the Far* ' mers’ Union Trading Company, and had a half share in a Studebaker oar, which waa being sent down from Auckland: Accused had £64 when arrested in Sydney.
