Mr Chamberlain indicated that Sir James Rodd, late Ambassador at Rome, would be the British delegate to the League of Nations Assembly. In the House of Commons Lord Robert Cecil questioned the desirability of British delegates to the League of Nations belonging purely to the official class. He declared that the Government’s action showed a profound contempt for the league.
